Benny Chi Yum Hui is currently a lecture of piano at the Junior Department of the Royal Northern College of Music and YYM Programme of Leeds College of Music. Originally from Hong Kong, he graduated from the Hong Kong Baptist University in 2001 with a degree in English Language and Literature. While he was in Hong Kong, he obtained his Certificate of Teaching from the Royal Schools of Music (CT ABRSM). Then, he did a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Piano Performance at the Leeds College of Music and Master of Music at the University of Leeds studying with Dame Fanny Waterman. In 2002, he obtained the Leeds Opportunity Trust Award and in September 2003, he was awarded the RNCM governor’s award and RNCM overseas entrance award to study the M Phil course at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying with John Gough and Murray McLachlan. He appeared in the masterclass led by internationally renowned pianists and teachers including Bernard Roberts, Joan Havill, William Westney and Alexander Melikov.
Benny also enjoys a busy performing career in England. He has given concerts in London, Manchester, Leeds, Congleton, Oldham and Garstang. In 2006, Benny was invited to give three Mozart Anniversary Recitals in England. In the same year, he was the musical director of and performed in the national tour of "Night Piece" - a deconstruction of Chopin Noctrnes.
